How The Backup Process Works

Every night FMPHost takes a snapshot of your database, compresses and archives it and makes it available for download through our FileMaker Control Panel system.  A rotating count of seven databases is always available.

You can also initiate a backup at any time by clicking the "Create Backup" button in the control panel.  Creating new backups will automatically delete the oldest backup saved.

In addition, customers on the Standard and Premium FileMaker Hosting plans have access to the Remote Backup feature.  The Remote Backup feature will push a backup to you each time a backup is made.  The three options for receiving a Remote Backup copy of your database backup are:

1) Email (if the backup archive is less than 100 MB in size)
2) FTP
3) Dropbox

Remote Backup is a great way to hold on to many archival copies of your database and to insure your data against unforeseen events.
