How do I install a FileMaker plugin on my server?

FileMaker plugins are fully supported on all dedicated hosting plans. Server-side plugins allow your FileMaker scripts to use plugin functions when they run on the server — for scheduled scripts, triggered scripts, and server-side processes.

How to install a plugin

  1. Send us the plugin file — open a support ticket and attach the plugin file (and license file if one is required). We will place it in the correct Extensions folder on your server.
  2. Enable the plugin — in the FileMaker Server Admin Console, go to Configuration > Plug-ins and enable the plugin you want to use.
  3. Restart FileMaker Server — plugins take effect after a server restart. We typically schedule this toward the end of the business day to minimize disruption to your users.

Good to know

  • Server-side plugins are separate from client-side plugins (which users install on their own computers in FileMaker Pro)
  • Some plugins require a separate license file in addition to the plugin itself — check with your plugin vendor
  • Not all plugins support server-side execution. If you are unsure whether yours does, your plugin vendor's documentation will confirm it

Open a support ticket with the plugin name and file and we will handle the rest.
